{"id":671,"date":"2021-04-01T19:40:10","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T18:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.control-g.co.uk\/plaintales\/?p=671"},"modified":"2022-08-06T18:19:46","modified_gmt":"2022-08-06T17:19:46","slug":"short-notices-no-vigil-for-lorraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.control-g.co.uk\/plaintales\/2021\/04\/01\/short-notices-no-vigil-for-lorraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Short Notices &#8211; No Vigil For Lorraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuing on from my previous post, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.control-g.co.uk\/plaintales\/2021\/03\/13\/short-notices-5\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"457\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sarah Everard &#8211; Getting In On The Act<\/a>&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have for some weeks now been following a murder trial that has been taking place in Devon. &nbsp;Although I first became aware of the case about a year ago, it has taken until now for the legal process to reach its end, and I wanted to wait for that rather foregone before writing about it.&nbsp; As luck would have it, it turns out to be particularly timely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case has several similarities to the currently fashionable <em>cause c\u00e9l\u00e8bre<\/em>;&nbsp; a young woman was murdered by a stranger, her body dismembered, disfigured and scattered about the surrounding countryside.&nbsp; By now you are undoubtedly wondering why this dreadful case has received so little publicity, why poor Lorraine&#8217;s portrait has not been plastered daily about the national media, and why there are no vigils being held to provide a convenient pretext for attacking the police, and why no peer has called for curfews for people belonging to the same section of society as the murderer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is, of course, absolutely no truth to the scandalous rumour being put about that the fact that the murderer is an Iraqi failed asylum-seeker has anything to do with the inequitable treatment of the two murders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.control-g.co.uk\/plaintales\/category\/short-notices\/page\/26\/\" target=\"_blank\">Short Notices &#8211; What They Are<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Continuing on from my previous post, Sarah Everard &#8211; Getting In On The Act&#8230;&#8230;..
