Originally titled, Journal Of Researches Into The Natural History And Geology Of The Countries Visited During The Voyage Of H. M. S. Beagle Round The World, Under The Command Of Capt. Fitz Roy [Sic] R.N. By Charles Darwin, M.A., F.R.S. Apology to the reader; This ‘review’ seems to have grown and grown, until there was a danger it would be nearly as long as the book itself. I’m afraid that I seem to have imitated Darwin himself in starting out to write a few brief notes and, as he himself often did, getting so engrossed in my subject that I ended up devoting far more time (and considerably more words) to it than I intended.
