Short Notices – Good News

Feed Me!

Regular readers will know that I have devoted considerable time, effort, and, not least, money, to trying to encourage the local wildlife – the badgers, foxes and hedgehogs all get their meals served up overnight even if it means me waiting for them to turn up for the second sitting.  In particular, I have been keen to tempt the various songbirds to take up residence by providing them with their preferred delicacies and feeding stations.  I’ve been concerned that the cold weather has meant that invertebrates are in short supply.  Also, although the area where I live has plenty of small streams, it’s been so dry that I’m also putting out bowls of water, which I see they are using.

Blackbird brings fledglings for feeding
Mother Blackbird and Chick

Ol’ Blue Eyes Is Back! Jackdaw

So, with a bit of luck, I can look forward to Mr & Mrs B bringing the family down to al fresco [1] dinners as the summer warms up and the chicks fledge.  Happy days!

[1] Alas, I’ve had to ban them from coming indoors because, while I’m pleased to see them feeling so comfortable around me, they are not house trained and I don’t like cleaning up bird shit.
